NEWS: Feeling the love

Someone over at AOL really loves us. Not only were we featured on their Live Journal site in July as we previously mentioned but today our stats have gone through the roof and all because we have been featured by AOL again and this time on the homepage of AOL's new service: AIM TODAY.

God bless you AOL and a special welcome to all first time AOL readers! Talk to me...tell me your green concerns? Do you want to be green? What problems do you face? Is organic too pricey where you live? Is fairtrade the answer? Who do you blame for Katrina? Can the US save the world from envirogeddon? Is envirogeddon even an issue? What tips do you have for a greener lifestyle?

We look forward to hearing from you.

Hi City Hippy

Nice site and thanks for the great welcome.

In answer to your questions:

I do want to go green and am doing my best. That is why I like your site. We seem alike. Just trying to do our best.

It is amazing - there are so many great websites out there but without AOL I might never have found your site. Thanks AOL!

I am indeed very worried for our future especially as I have two young sons (10 & 7).

Katrina has shown us a) just what we are up against and b) how powerless we are in the face of nature's wrath.

The biggest problem I have re going green is information but with blogs like yours that is getting to be less and less of a problem.

Organic is quite pricey where I live (Houston). But still worth it. Just not fair to all those trapped in poverty...soylent green anyone? And Bush has the nerve to roll our Condi to defend him from racism. Uhm...ain't that ironic! Bet he will come out next saying he has loads of black friends. He is such a loser. I voted for him out of selfishness the first time round but am now a committed Green believe it or not!

The R's and D's have had long enough and have messed it all up. We are going to hell in a hand basket and we need a new choice!

Fairtrade is the answer most definitely. Social Justice and Environmental concerns are totally linked. Love Fairtrade!!! Don't see it around as much as I would like though.

I don't blame Bush directly for causing Katrina although global warming leads to rising sea temperatures which in turn causes stronger hurricanes so by his inaction and the inaction of other leaders AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE we live in a land of climate change ignorance and inactivity which may yet come back and bite us all on the butt.

Bush did however preside over cuts in the flood defence budgets and relocated all the National Guard troops to Iraq that could have helped out if they were here.

We need to get off of oil! Sheesh what is he waiting for?

I personally think Katrina would have been better dealt with if the levees were stronger and more National Guard were around to help out. If Bush were a decent human being he would fess up but we all know he won't. And those that defend him are worse than he is.

Can the US save the world from envirogeddon? Love that word: envirogeddon! I think the world needs to save itself collectively to be honest. More pressure on the US (people and politics) would do the trick as we seem to think we can live without the rest of the world.

In reality as the richest nation on earth the US has the most to lose in terms of lifestyle.

Tips for a greener lifestyle? Well just looked at your newsletters (and signed up of course) and saw that great piece about reusing water bottles. That is awesome.

But my own tips? Hmmm how about kill the air con and wear lighter clothes. Air Con is evil!

Also spread the word, evangelise the good of being green and be prepared to face ignorance and wrath. Stay calm and talk directly and honestly.

Hope that helps.

Will be back soon for sure - so glad I found your blog. Perhaps I could write something for you? As you can tell I have a lot to say hehehe. Will email you now to discuss.

Peace and love

Sue
